Dear Pix

Today I was driving to work along Main Road, or should I say fighting my way along the exclusive taxi lane, one tyre on the tar, the other in the dirt while the rest of the traffic snarl wound its way all the way back to Fourways, wondering what in the world I was doing. I got to work and sat down in my chair like a battery chicken, ruffled my feathers and settled in. Destined to lay my 1.4 eggs for the day I'm sure.. My pointless endeavours to achieve a meaningful work status somehow just didn't seem to be having the right effect on me today. As the day drew to a close I couldn't wait for those last few minutes that seem to last a lifetime, to drain from the remnants of the day. Why?

Because it is Friday.. and that means tomorrow I can grab my camera and do what I love to do. I can put what I see and feel into an image and share it with others. Just like that, no words required.

So why wouldn't I do that 7 days a week? Well, I have decided to give it a bash despite warnings of turning your passion into your job and the bad economic times, and trading your corporate salary for that of a passionate artist and blah blah blah. I have been photographing for over 10 years and have been subscribed to Pix for 8 months. In these last few months I have gained such inspiration and comraderie from reading your magazine that it all seems within reach. By no means do I think it will happen overnight and involve nothing less than blood sweat and tears(well, some hard work at least). But I intend to try: armed with my latest issue of Pix, my trusty D80 and that notion of having to start a race before you can win it!

Thank you for a great mag. I hope to be writing a letter in the near future telling of my success!
